Sauðlauksdalsvatn

 

Location:

Sauðlauksvatn is located in Sauðlauksdalur in Barðarstrandasýsla, near Patreksfjörður, in the lower North-West of Iceland.
 

Distance from Reykjavík and the nearest township:

Distance from Reykjavík is approx. 380 km, and 28 km from Patreksfjörður.
 

Practical information:

The lake covers an area of 0.35 km2. The off-highway route to the Lake is quite accessible, but off-road driving is prohibited.
 

Fishing area:

No restrictions.
 

Accommodation:

Camping is permitted and free of charge wherever possible. Toilet facilities might become available next spring (2010).
 

Fishing potential:

Char and Sea char can be found, usually fairly large, as well as large or very large trout.
 

Daily opening hours:

No restrictions.
 

Season:

Early spring to autumn, whenever there is no ice covering on the Lake.
 

Bait:

All regular bait is allowed: fly, worm and lure.
 

Best time of the day:

Early in the morning and late at night.
 

Rules:

Littering and off-road driving is strictly forbidden. Cardholders must carry the Veiðikortið and an appropriate ID on their person, ready for inspection at any time. Children under 14 are allowed for free if accompanied by an adult cardholder. Fishing in the rivers nearby is strictly forbidden. It is compulsory to fill out the fishing reports and return them to www.veidikortid.is
