Lake Haukadalsvatn is located in Haukadalur, near Búðardalur, on the west coast of Iceland.
Distance from Reykjavík and the nearest township
Distance from Reykjavík is approx. 140 km, taking highway 587 through Brattabrekka. Búðardalur is in the vicinity.
Practical information
The lake covers an area of 3,2 km2 and has the max. depth of 40 m.
Fishing area:
Fishing is only allowed on the designated area, belonging to the Vatn farm. The contact gives all further information.
Accommodation
Camping is permitted and free of charge wherever possible. Please contact the landlord for further information.
Fishing potential
Sea trout from the Haukadalsá river can almost exclusively be expected, but occasional salmon might be caught as well. Best chance of catching is where small creeks enter the lake.

Fishing is allowed from dawn to dusk.
Season
May1st to September 30th.
Bait
All bait is allowed: fly, worm and lure.
Best time of the year
Peak season is from mid July to end of September.
Rules
Littering and off-road driving is strictly forbidden. Cardholders must register at the place of contact and show both the Veiðikortið and an appropriate ID. Children under 14 are allowed if accompanied by an adult cardholder.
