Lake Meðalfellsvatn í Kjós.

 

Staðsetning:

Meðalfellsvatn is located in Kjósarhreppur. 
 

Distance from Reykjavik:

About 50 km. Driving from Reykjavik.  Drive in the Hvalfjord and just before you reach the tunnel turn right.  Turn right to road nr. 461 that leads to the lake.
 

Practical information:

The size of the lake is about  2 km2 and 18 m deep where it is deepest.  The lake is 46 m above sea level.  To the lake runs river Sandsa and from the lake runs the famous Bugda that runs into Laxa i Kjos.  Both sea trout and salmon enter the lake through Bugda. 
 

Fishing area:

You can fish the whole lake, but not closer to Bugda than 50 m.  Please note carefully that fishing closer to 50 m range from Bugda river is strighly forbidden, and if fishermen are cought fishing there it might have consiquences like loss of fishing equipments and fees.
 

Accommodation:

It is possible to buy accommodation near by, i.g. at Hjalli and Eyrarkot. Please see more information at www.kjos.is .
 

Catch:

Most common is to catch small chal, but also nice brown trout, sea trout and salmon.  Salmon can be cougth from middle of June..
 

Daily opening hours:

Fishing is allowed from 7.00 to 22.00 every day of the week.
 

Season:

The fishing season starts 19st of April and ends 20th of September.
 

Bait:

Fly, lure and worm is allowed.
 

Best time of the year:

From middle of June to middle of August.
 

Additional information:

Very good access to the lake and easy to go to from the capital..
 

Rules:

Littering is forbidden.  Please have the Fishing Card handy when the landlord visit and check.  Free access for kids younger than 14 years.

Eyrarvatn in Svinadalur

Location:

You can choose from three lakes in Svínadal in Hvalfjarðarsveit. 
 
 

Distance from Reykjavík and the nearest town:

Distance from Reykjavík is about 82 km if you go through the tunnel under the Hvalfjord. The lakes are about 27 km from the town Akranes. For inhabitant from Reykjavik it it a brilliant idea to skip the tunnel (on highway 1) and drive the Hvalfjorður, that has a spectacular view.  That road only takes 15 minutes more.
 
 

Practical information:

The three lakes you can fish in is Geitabergsvatn, Þórisstaðavatn and Eyrarvatn. They are all part of a water system including the salmon riveer Laxá í Leirarsveit. Salmon can be cought in the lakes.  Lake Þórisstaðavatn is biggest of those three, 1.37 km2 and it rises 71 m above sea level. Greatest deepth of that lake is 27 m. 
 
 

Fishing area:

Fishing is allowed in all lake Þórisstaðavatn and Geitabergsvatn but only the north part of lake Eyrarvatn.  Please note that it is forbidden to fish close to the rivers. 
 
 

Accommodation:

There is a nice organised camping area at the farm Þórisstaðir where you can buy access to. You can also rent summerhouse and a trailer there.
 
 

Fishing potential:

There is a good prospect for brown trout and char fishing. Occasional salmon are cought there though every year..
 
 

Daily opening hours:

Fishing is allowed from 7 am to 11 pm. After 20th of August fishing is only allowed until 9 pm in the evening..
 

Season:

The fishing season is from 1st of April until 25th of September..
 

Bait:

Fly, worm and lure/spinners is allowed in the lakes..
 

Best time of the year:

The catch is consistent all season.
 
 

Misc:

Very good access is to the lakes, especially Þórisstaðavatn and Eyrarvatn.  Those two are very convenient for families with small children.

Fishing is forbidden in the rivers, Þverá and Selós. All traffic close to the rivers is forbidden.  Cardholders must sign in at farm Þórisstaðir and show the Fishing Card and appropriate ID. Children under 14 years are allowed for free, if accompanied by adult cardholder.

Kleifarvatn á Reykjanesi


Staðsetning:  

Kleifarvatn er á Reykjanesskaga, staðsett á milli Sveifluhálsar og Vatnshlíðar.
 

Upplýsingar um vatnið:

Kleifarvatn er eitt af stærstu vötnum landsins, um 8 km2. að stærð og 136 m. yfir sjávarmáli.  Mesta dýpi í vatninu er um 90 m. á móts við Syðri Stapa.  Meðaldýpi í vatninu er um 29 m. Stangaveiðifélag Hafnarfjarðar fer fyrir veiðiréttinum í vatninu.  Kleifarvatn er frægt fyrir stórfiska og mælingar sýna mikið af fiski í vatninu, einnig hafa kafarar séð mikið af vænum fiski þar. Stangaveiðifélag Hafnarfjarðar hefur hafið ræktunarátak í vatninu og sumarið 2006  var sleppt um 10.000 ársgömlum urriðaseiðum í vatnið. Sleppingum verður haldið áfram næstu ár auk þess sem slóðar í kringum vatnið hafa verið lagfærðir. 
Leiðarlýsing og fjarlægð frá Rvk. og næsta bæjarfélagi.
 
Fjarlægð er um 34 km. frá Reykjavík.  Auðvelt er að komast að vatninu, en aka þarf Krísuvíkuleið og liggur vatnið meðfram þjóðveginum.
 

Veiðisvæðið:

Veiði er heimil í öllu vatninu.
 

Gisting:

Engin gistiaðstaða er við vatnið.
 

Veiði: 

Í vatninu er bæði bleikja og urriði.
 

Daglegur veiðitími:  

Heimilt er að veiða allan sólarhringinn.   
 

Tímabil:

Veiðitímabilið er frá 15. apríl til 30. september.  
 

Agn:  

Fluga, maðkur og spónn. 
 

Besti veiðitíminn:

Veiði er nokkuð jöfn yfir daginn.
 

Reglur:

Handhöfum Veiðikortsins ber að vera með kortið og skilríki á sér og tilbúnir að sýna það veiðiverði þegar hann vitjar veiðimanna.  Það er stranglega bannað að skilja eftir sig rusl og aka utan vega.  Börn yngri en 14 ára veiða frítt í fylgd með korthafa.  Óskað er eftir að því að menn sendi upplýsingar um afla með tölvupósti á netfangið veidikortid@veidikortid.is.  Bátaumferð á vatninu er bönnuð.

Location

Kleifarvatn is located at Reykjanesskagi, lying between Sveifluháls and Vatnshlíð, roughly between Reykjavik and Keflavik.
 

Distance from Reykjavík and the nearest township

The distance from Reykjavik is about 34 km. Access is very easy, since the lake lies next to the Krísuvíkurleið at Hafnarfjörður.
 

Practical information

Kleifarvatn is one of Iceland’s largest lakes, covering about 8m2.  It rises 136 m. above sea level, with the deepest point at 90 m, near Syðri Stapi. Average depth is approx. 29 m.  The Angling Club of Hafnarfjörður (Stangaveiðifélag Hafnarfjarðar) administrates the fishing rights.

No restrictions.
 

Accommodation

There is no accommodation available at the lake.
 

Fishing potential  

Kleifarvatn is renowned for unusually large brown trout. One might also expect sizeable char.

Mornings and evenings.
 

Rules:

Cardholders must have the Veiðikortið card handy and an appropriate ID on their person, ready for inspection at any time. Littering is strictly forbidden. Children under 14 are allowed for free, if accompanied by adult cardholders.

Síðasti séns!

 
Nú styttist í veturinn og vatnasvæðin eru byrjuð að loka hvert af öðru.  Þann 31. ágúst lokaði t.d. Hítarvatn.  Í dag 15. september er síðasti dagurinn sem heimilt er að veiða í Þingvallavatni, Elliðavatni, Vífilsstaðavatni  og Hópinu. Hægt er að skoða samantekt yfir opnunar- og lokunartíma vatnanna hér.

The day is getting shorter. Twilight zone tactics.

Even though September is just around the corner, fishermen are still pretty active fishing the lakes.
Kristinn Helgi Sveinsson visited lake Elliðavatn, that is just few minutes driving from Reykjavik, on night last week.  He witnessed many trouts jumping  all around the lake and for him that alone was a pleasure.  He was trying with the fly but nothing happened so eventually he caught one 4 pounds on the worm bait.  The trout was 58cm.

Héðan og þaðan – góð bleikjuveiði í ágúst

Það hefur verið fín veiði það sem af er ágúst í vatnaveiðinni. 
Þingvallavatn hefur verið að gefa ótrúlega vel í ágúst og hafa veiðimenn verið að fá mikið af fallegri bleikju.  Systkinin Dagbjartur og Perla voru að veiða í fylgd með föður sínum og fengu þau fallegar bleikjur.  Hér fyrir neðan má sjá myndir frá veiðiferðinni.
