Hraunsfjordur – arctic char paradise!
Location:
Hraunsfjörður lagoon is located at the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
Distance from Reykjavík and the nearest township:
The distance from Reykjavik is about 180 km. The lagoon is located just between the town Stykkisholmur and Grundarfjordur.
Practical informaton:
Hraunsfjörður is a lagoon, located beyond the Hraunfjörður dam, near Hraunsfjarðarvatn.
Fishing area:
Fishing is allowed in restricted areas only, as allocated by the landlord.
Accommodation:
There is a designated camping site near the lagoon, with some facilities.
Fishing potential:
Sea char and sea trout fishing is quite good, but salmon can be found there as well.
Daily opening hours:
Fishing is allowed from dawn to dusk
Season:
April 1st to September 30th.
Bait:
All bait is allowed: fly, worm and lure.
Best time of the year:
Fishing is good for the whole season.
Rules:
Littering is strictly forbidden. Please check on the map in the brochure where to fish. It is forbidden to hook up fish from the bridge (damn).
Fishermen can go directly to fish, but please have the Fishing Card handy when the landlord ask for it.
